AI Accelerator (NPU)

The ASUS Tinker Edge R is a single-board computer (SBC) specially designed for AI applications. It utilizes the Rockchip NPU, an AI accelerator, to enhance processing efficiency, reduce power demands, and simplify the creation of connected devices and smart applications. With its integrated Machine Learning (ML) accelerator, the Rockchip NPU, the Tinker Edge R can perform 3 tera operations per second (TOPS) at low power consumption. It is optimized for Neural Network (NN) architecture, enabling the Tinker Edge R to support multiple ML frameworks and easily compile and run many common ML models.

Advanced Power Design

Most SBC motherboards offer only a 15-watt (5V 3A) power design, which can lead to device and system instability when multiple devices are connected. Unlike other SBCs with power designs that compromise the performance of I/O ports, the Tinker Edge R boasts a custom power design that can deliver up to 65 watts with a dual power supply system (DC and pin headers). This ensures stable system operation and full I/O performance even with multiple connected devices. Additionally, in case of significant variations in current and voltage, an automatic power protection design comes into play to effectively safeguard the board and all connected devices.

Rockchip RK3399Pro Processor

The powerful and modern six-core Arm-based Rockchip RK3399Pro A72 + A53 processor is enhanced with Arm big.LITTLE™ technology. The Tinker Edge R delivers powerful performance for critical applications such as graphics, computer vision, video, audio, and security. It features 4GB dual-channel LPDDR4 memory for the system, using fourth-generation low-power DDR DRAM technology to provide higher speeds and lower power consumption for improved system performance and efficiency. In addition, the NPU is equipped with 2GB of independent memory, ensuring higher speeds, enhanced stability, and high efficiency for ML inference.
