Powered by the Rockchip RK3399 SoC with a new 64-bit Armv8 architecture chip, the Tinker Board 2S is equipped with a 6-core system — significantly enhancing performance compared to other popular SBC boards. Additionally, it features Arm big.LITTLE technology, a heterogeneous processing architecture that matches the right CPU core for each task, automatically distributing workloads. As a result, the Tinker Board 2S delivers nearly twice the performance of the original Tinker Board and outperforms many competing SBCs.
The GPU provided with the Tinker Board 2S is the Mali-T860, which is a multi-core GPU built on Arm's Midgard architecture, designed especially for complex graphics use cases. It offers full support for OpenGL ES 3.0/3.1, OpenVG 1.1, OpenCL, and other frameworks for next-generation and legacy 2D/3D graphics applications. Compared to the original Tinker Board, the Mali-T860 GPU in the Tinker Board 2S accelerates graphic performance by up to 28%.
The Tinker Board 2S supports dual displays with resolutions up to 4K UHD, making it suitable for impressive visual output. It also offers three built-in popular display interfaces, including HDMI, DisplayPort via USB-C, and DSI.
The new-generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi features a 2x2 dual-band 2.4/5 GHz antenna, offering up to 10 times faster transmission rates than previous Wi-Fi standards. Additionally, the Tinker Board 2S has the latest Bluetooth 5.0 technology built-in, providing up to 2x the transmission speed and up to 4x more range, ensuring faster data transfer and extended connectivity with various devices, such as speakers, headphones, and game controllers.
The Tinker Board 2S features three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, offering up to 10 times higher data transfer speeds than USB 2.0 — plus all the convenience of reversible connectivity. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports of the Tinker Board 2 deliver up to 0.9A of power for device charging, while the USB-C connector provides up to 1.5A for much faster charging speeds compared to older USB 2.0 ports. The USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C supports USB On-The-Go (OTG) functionality and DisplayPort Alt Mode for connecting external displays.
