This chip has a precise 25 MHz crystal reference, internal PLLs, and dividers, allowing it to generate nearly any frequency from <8KHz to 150+ MHz.
The Si5351A clock generator is an I2C-controlled clock generator. It utilizes the built-in precision clock to drive multiple PLLs and clock dividers through I2C instructions. By configuring the PLLs and dividers, you can generate precise and arbitrary frequencies. There are three independent outputs, each capable of having a different frequency. The outputs are 3Vpp and can be accessed through board-friendly headers or an optional SMA connector for RF work.
We've placed this handy little chip on its own breakout board PCB with a 3.3V LDO regulator, allowing it to be powered from 3-5VDC. Additionally, we've included level-shifting circuitry on the I2C lines to safely use the chip with 3V or 5V logic.
