Notify me when its in stockIt can deliver up to 2.5 watts of power to 4-8 ohm impedance speakers. It contains a D-class controller that can operate from 2.0V to 5.5VDC. Since it's a D-class amplifier, it's highly efficient (over 90% efficient while driving an 8Ω speaker above half a watt), making it perfect for portable and battery-operated projects. It has built-in thermal and overcurrent protection, although you'll barely notice it heating up. There's even a volume adjustment pot on the board to allow you to lower the gain from the default 24dB. This board is a nice upgrade to basic "LM386" amplifiers!
The inputs of the amplifier (A+ and A-) pass through 1.0uF capacitors, making it entirely 'differential' - unless you have differential outputs, grounding the Audiopin is sufficient. The output is "Bridge Tied" - this means that the output pins are directly connected to the speaker pins with no ground connection. The output is a high-frequency 250kHz square wave PWM that is 'averaged out' by the speaker coil - high frequencies are not audible. All of the above means that you cannot connect the output to another amplifier; it must drive the speakers directly.
It comes with a fully assembled and tested circuit board. We also include a header to attach to a circuit board and 3.5mm screw terminal blocks for easy attachment/removal of your speaker. You'll be rocking out in 15 minutes! Speaker not included, use any 4 ohm or greater impedance speaker.
