INA169 Analog DC Current Sensor Breakout - 60V 5A Max

The INA169 Analog DC Current Sensor Breakout is a versatile board that can help you with all your current monitoring needs. Instead of dealing with a multimeter, this circuit allows you to conveniently measure DC current consumption and provides a useful analog output with respect to ground. The analog output makes it an ideal choice for feedback loop control applications.

This breakout board uses the INA169 chip, and it can be used to measure high-side DC current consumption up to +60VDC without the need to insert a shunt resistor in between. This is especially beneficial in applications where you don't want to deal with the complications that can arise from inserting a measurement resistor between the target and real ground, as electronic components may not like it when ground references change with varying current consumption.

The INA169 chip is much smarter and capable; it can measure high-side current consumption and provide a voltage output that is proportional to the current being measured. It has a precision amplifier that measures the voltage across a 0.1 ohm, 1% sense resistor. The resistor is continuously rated for 2W, allowing you to perform continuous measurements up to +5A.

The output of the sensor is a current pulled through a built-in 10K resistor, so the output voltage is 1V per amp. In other words, if the current is 2A, the output will be 2V. If you wish to change the gain, you can do so by cutting traces next to it and soldering in a different resistor. For example, if you solder a 20K resistor, you will get 0.5V per amp.

The breakout board comes with a 5-pin header, making it easy to connect and disconnect your load, and a 3.5mm terminal plug for your convenience. To use it, provide power to VCC within the range of 2.7-60V and connect V+ to the high side of your power supply, then attach V- to the grounded load. You can then use a multimeter to measure the voltage output.

Please note that the terminal block included with your product may come in either blue or black.
