This board features the CP2104 USB to Serial converter chip, and it's a great tool for any microcontroller that requires a high-quality USB to serial connection. The CP2104 has better driver support compared to the CH340 and can handle very high speeds and variable bit rates without stability issues. In comparison to the FT232RL and FT231X, the CP2104 offers the same or better features at a great price point. It even includes RX/TX LEDs to help you debug data being sent and received.
By default, we've set it up to match our FTDI cables. The 6th pin is RTS, the power cable is +5V, and signal levels are at 3.3V (5V tolerant and should work with most 3.3V and 5V signal systems). It works great with any Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, or any other microcontroller that uses 'FTDI pinout' for communication and programming.
Additionally, it has a full collection of modem control pins - DTR, RI, DSR, etc. - for when you need them.
Each order comes with one fully assembled and tested board, a right-angle 6-pin 0.1" male header, and some 0.1" male header strip. You can solder the header onto the board to make it 'FTDI-like' or solder wires or part to the pads.
