This Thingy is very simple, it allows you to connect and extend the length of two 15-pin 1.0mm spaced cables end-to-end. It does the odd pin rearrangement for you, so just snap these two cables into place. Carefully lift the two ears of the connectors, insert the cables with contact points facing upward, and then push the ears back for a secure connection.
In theory, the CSI/DSI interface wasn't designed for super long cables, and we're not supposed to extend them. But we're smiling in the face of theory. We've used this Thingy to connect two 1-meter extension cables, and our display and camera worked! However, please note that it's not officially guaranteed: CSI/DSI is perhaps meant for a maximum of 25cm length.
It doesn't fit well with the slim CSI connector on the Pi Zero for use with classic 15-pin 1.0mm spaced flex cables. You'll need to get the appropriate cable for that.
