The Sharp Dust Sensor is a sensor that can be used to detect very fine particulate matter, such as cigarette smoke, and measure air pollution.
The sensor features an infrared emitter and a phototransistor. It operates by measuring the reflection of the emitted infrared light from dust particles.
With very low current consumption (up to 20mA) and the ability to operate with a supply voltage of up to 7V, the dust sensor has a sensitivity of 0.5V/1mg/m3. It provides an analog voltage output that is proportional to the dust density.
You can use the sensor with various microcontroller platforms, including Arduino, by simply connecting it with a 150-ohm resistor and a 220uF capacitor.
To make it easy to connect the sensor to different systems, it can be supplied with a connection cable.
